I`ve lost a fair amount of pictures of the Santiago area, if I find them I`ll post them later.
So here are my adventures in La Serena.
I didn´t do that much exploring around La Serena I was only there for 2 days and mostly was traveling around La Serena, to places like Pisco Elqui and Humboldt Penguin Reserve. Here is some of the better photos.
Pisco is the national drink of Chile, and is still being debated who(Chile, or Peru) invented this tasty spirit. Pisco much like wine is made from grapes, however Pisco boasts alcohol percentage of 35-50%. My 2nd day in La Serena I journeyed to Elqui Valley to find how the Pisco is made.
I apologize about the quality of the pictures, as it turns out snapping photos from a bus isn´t really a good idea.
Elqui Valley is km and kms of grape fields(vineyards?)
Okay i´m throwing in the towel with trying to post anything the internet here is very spotty and i´ve had to redo my writing several times when the internet crashes my computer crashes. so heres a link to the photos I uploaded.

The highlights
Bussing through a beautiful Elqui Valley, finding out the pisco distilery we were going to was closed. Finding out there was another one several miles down a remote road.
Walking the several miles in the hot sun, trying to knock down pomegranates by throwing rocks at them.
Getting to the distilery and it being opened... with no tours.
Them being kind enough to open up the distilery to us to explore.
Buying a handcrafted bottle of pisco. finding out you cant ship it to the US. drinking it with friends.
The next day went to Humboldt National Park(Penguin Reserve?), 2 hours away from La Serena.
Saw a load of wild life, penguins, crazy birds, Sealion colony (very smelly)
Not to mention...
A BLUE WHALE!!!!! 25meters long massive creature
Tomorrow I wake up at 4am for a hike to some geysers next to the nearby volcano. followed by a dip in a hot springs... lifes not so bad.
After that I really don`t know what next. Perhaps Bolivia, maybe Peru, more Chile? Things to figure out in the next 24 hours.
Cheers all, B
